At our core, we are working to improve the lives of the Haitian people, particularly children.Hope for Haiti’s holistic approach focuses on five key areas that foster long-term growth and sustainability:1. Education,2. Healthcare,3. Water,4. Infrastructure, and5. Economy.Working in southern Haiti 30 years, Hope for Haiti impacts the lives of over 500,000 people every year. Our Public Health Program includes 24 Community Health Workers working in 24 rural communities. Additionally, Hope for Haiti has distributed water filtration systems to over 5,000 families, which provide over 25,000 gallons of purified drinking water to each community daily. Ultimately, we strive to empower local institutions by providing them with access to supplies, financial resources, and outside support.Hope for Haiti’s projects in Haiti have lasting impact because they: (1) strengthen local and existing institutions, schools, and systems; (2) engage local community members as partners and leaders in improving education, health and economic opportunities for their children; (3) invest in locally owned businesses with the goal of improving the Haitian economy; (4) reduce the distance that primary school age children must walk to school; (5) provide healthcare access and interventions to rural and city populations; (6) improve the environment; (7) increase primary school enrollment for boys and girls; and ultimately (8), catalyze generational change to reduce poverty and create better opportunities for Haitians.
